Pinehurst Estates, in the heart of Overland Park, has been a sought-after, move-up neighborhood since its beginning in 1974. The homes have not only held their value but appreciated over the years and usually, buyers are lining up, waiting for a house to come on the market.
The neighborhood of custom homes is bordered by Lowell Avenue, Antioch Road, 98th Terr, and 103rd Street and was a horse farm before Hickok-Dible Companies began the development. The first homeowners kept the wood from the old barn of the original farm and made picture frames.
Pinehurst Estates was a showcase for builders, with many of them choosing to build their own homes there. The homes are all unique and the builders used superb materials. You couldn’t build the same houses for twice the amount of money now.
The neighborhood has 12 acres of common ground, two city parks, and is shielded from the perimeter thoroughfares by landscaped berms. Some homes back up to a small lake that is part of the common grounds.
Hickok-Dible took the traditions it established in the Brookside and Ward Parkway areas of Kansas City and translated them to Johnson County when planning Pinehurst Estates.
